Parent Coaching

Parenting can be rewarding and demanding in equal measure. When a child is struggling, or family life feels stuck, it can be hard to know how best to help.

What it can feel like

Parents often come to us feeling worried, exhausted or unsure whether they are doing the right thing. Some are trying to understand their child’s behaviour or emotions; others notice their own reactions or history getting in the way.

Parent coaching offers a space for you, as the parent, to think things through with a psychologist who understands child development and family relationships.

How therapy may help

Sessions focus on understanding what might be happening for your child and for you, and on practical ways of responding that fit your family. The work often draws on systemic and mentalisation-based ideas.

How we work with this

Some of our Clinical Psychologists have experience in child and adolescent mental health services, which informs this work. Sessions are with the parent or parents, online and at a time that suits you.
